Abstract
This study had as general objective to evaluate the academic performance and this persecution according to sex, age in public and private students. A sample of 381 students from the Tsáchilas province was selected, 190 (49.9%) belonging to the male sex and 191 (51.1%) to the female sex, aged 15 to 17 years; for the public educational unit 264 (69.3%) and private 117 (31.7%) students. The research was based on the analytical-synthetic method and an instrument was used accompanied by a survey and the questionnaire that was related to the grades of the students of the 2019 school year. For the exploratory and inferential statistical analysis, the statistical program SPSS version was used. 25. The results showed an inverse covariance of bullying as a function of academic performance in the dimensions of bullying level, intensity, communication restrictions, and theft for secondary school students. The student's test showed significance for gender in the bullying dimensions; assaults and robberies. Regarding age, it showed significant differences in academic performance, and in most of the dimensions of this harassment. At the same time, educational institutions showed significance in academic performance and in the dimensions: level, communication restriction and theft. In conclusion, the level of this problem, intensity, communication restriction and theft are closely correlated with academic performance, the male sex has a higher level of harassment, occurring in older students and in the public educational institution.
