Abstract

The selected software responds to the intention of adapting its processes to technological advances and international standards that allow interoperability with other systems, as well as cooperative work with the example of other research journals that work with the same software and that facilitated the data needed for installation. In the same way, it corresponds to the institutional policy of using free software. With this work, efficient and unified management of the entire editorial process of a serial publication is given, from the reception of articles to its publication and online indexing. Installing, configuring and doing the pertinent tests in the implementation of the free software Open Journal System developed by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP), an online editorial management system. The methodology used corresponds to carrying out activities that reduce resistance to change, these being the following: Implementation and configuration of the system, editing of the source code and parameterization of the site with the data provided by the research staff, disseminating the contents and research produced from the articulated material that the institute has and the personalization of the system. At the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Tsa'chila in the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, as in most institutes and universities in the country, it has become necessary to use information technologies for administrative activities for editorial management, thereby allowing the entire academic and student community, and even society, to benefit from the automation of services for the management and publication of online academic journals.
