Abstract
Chagas disease or trypanosomiasis in Ecuador has been considered an endemic, in this sense, being informed about it is of great importance, and justifies this research, especially when it comes to vulnerable regions such as the Ecuadorian Amazon, however, few studies have been generated on this disease and so far, the data on its prevalence are limited. That is why, the objective of this work was to study the prevalence of this pathology in the provinces of that region, in order to concentrate data obtained so far, in a single document. To this end, a systematic bibliographic review was carried out, whose information was extracted from keywords such as: Chagas disease /Chagas disease; Trypanosoma cruzi/Trypanosoma cruzi; prevalence/prevalence; Ecuadorian Amazon/Ecuadorian Amazon and the use of inclusion and exclusion criteria. Through this search, 16 publications were obtained, of which 13 correspond to scientific research and 3 to government entities and health institutions. From these, evidence was found that highlights the prevalence of the aforementioned disease in the Amazonian provinces of the country, leading to assert that the infection caused by T. Cruzi has remained for many years and currently continues to throw numbers that become worrying in such a vulnerable population, becoming both a risk of vector transmission actively and constantly. as in a risk of congenital transmission. In conclusion, the need for continuous monitoring of the disease to establish vector control should be noted.
