Abstract
The constant technological evolution has developed virtuality to its maximum expression. Speed is one of the most relevant variables within the internet, generating a new learning paradigm that entails great challenges in the construction of knowledge, since the indiscriminate use of information leads to plagiarism. The objective of this study is to analyze the theoretical trends of plagiarism and its technological evolution in the regulatory framework of higher education in Ecuador. The research is documentary framed in the qualitative paradigm, and the use of the content analysis technique. Theoretically, it was based on the contributions of Posner (2013), Eco (1997), Vega (2018), Martínez (1992), among others. It is determined that plagiarism has evolved hand in hand with technology, which represents serious challenges for teachers and therefore for the scientific development of a nation because it degrades the development of the intellect.
