Abstract

In dental practice, the risk of the professional to contract the disease is high, considering that the route of transmission is through drops of saliva, by direct contact with contaminated surfaces and the use of rotating devices for dental treatment, in addition, the proximity with which the dentist interacts with the patient makes this health personnel more vulnerable. The Objective, To evaluate the level of risk of contagion of respiratory diseases in dentists in the private practice. The Method This was a quantitative and descriptive, observational and correlational study, where participants gave their informed consent. The Results 20 people from the Dentistry Area participated, between men and women, ages ranging from 27 to 50 years through a survey of the 65 Offices. Individuals of the Chone Canton; obtaining the following results according to their knowledge in biosafety: The level of risk that was found was a high level with an average of 22%. In addition, it was observed that 52% had a medium risk level and 26% had a low risk. The Conclusions Dentists aged 20 to 30 years presented a low risk level, dentists aged 31 – 40 years presented a medium level and those over 40 years of age presented high risk.
