Abstract
The emotional effects caused by the pandemic on students have aroused interest in approaching this problem. Therefore, the present work aimed to describe the emotional effects of the Covid19 pandemic on fourth-year students of Basic in the Ciudad de Guaranda Educational Unit in the year 2020-2021, of the Santo Domingo canton, Santo Domingo de Los province. Tsachilas, Ecuador. The present investigation was based on the positivist paradigm, it had a mixed approach, a survey was carried out with parents and an interview with teachers through which this problem was deepened. It was found that the pandemic period led to the manifestation of negative emotions in children, such as loneliness, isolation, insecurity and worry; but positive changes were observed regarding family appreciation and personal growth, and the expression of emotions within the family was stimulated. Positive emotions were transmitted by both parents and teachers, not all parents dedicated a space of the day to talk with their child during the pandemic. Parents' contact with the school was not systematic, despite the fact that most of them do not feel able to support their child(ren) in completing school tasks.
