Abstract

This project presents the study to identify the most significant factors for the success of private construction projects in Nuevo León, Mexico. In this state it is common to have failed projects, which is why it is necessary to carry out a diagnosis of the causalities that exist. This study presents an analysis of the independent variables such as initiation, planning, execution, organizational, environmental causes, safety, human capital, political conflicts and corruption, climatic conditions and financial factors. In addition, the dependent variable is considered, the success of the project, which includes the sub variables of cost, scope, time, quality, compliance with customer expectations and sustainability. For this study, a diagnostic instrument applied to project leaders was designed, which was validated by connoisseurs and the independent variables within these instruments were analyzed through multiple linear regression. The validation of the instruments was carried out by statistical methods to detect the impact of each of the variables, the type of sample selection was probabilistic and an additional 10% of the n value was added to enrich the sample. The results of the hypothesis  for the variables  show that the betas are different from zero, so the null hypothesis is rejected and for the hypothesis  the betas of variables other than the human factor are statistically more significant, so the null hypothesis is not rejected. The variable that appears the most is the human factor followed by the financial factor. The contribution of this research focuses on the enrichment for decision-making of managers in the construction industry
